Preparation is the key!
First, the painted surface needs to be free of dirt and old paint that could lead to the new paint not adhering for as long as it should. Exterior surfaces are power washed as part of the prep. Next, wood surfaces need to be sanded and primed. Caulking should be done to seal any cracks and holes. Then stucco repaired and primed and walls primed. Only then should paint be applied. We use mostly paint rollers and brushes to paint with. While spraying is good at covering large surfaces quickly, a good paintbrush gets into the cracks of the wood and other surface depressions and imperfections with excellent coverage.
